Summer School
Summer School 2026
SUMMER SCHOOL 2026
Only students enrolled in the Fullerton Joint Union High School District may take summer school classes. Classes are offered based on student need and teacher availability. With the exception of a few classes, summer school is intended for remediation to allow students who earned a D or F the opportunity to retake the class to be on track for graduation and/or A-G eligible.
Session 1: June 1, 2026 to June 18, 2026
Session 2: June 22, 2026 to July 9, 2026
Each session covers a semester of course work. Session 1 classes correspond to the first semester of the school year and session 2 classes correspond to the second semester of the school year.
Classes run from 7:45 AM to 1:00 PM Monday through Thursday; no school on Fridays.
Current Sonora students will request summer school classes as part of their course selection for the 26-27 school year with their counselor.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT
There is a strict attendance policy during summer school. Students are only allowed to miss 8 hours each session; each day is 5 hours. Once they have missed 9 hours in the session, they will be dropped from the class. The teacher will meet with the student and contact the parent via email to let them know that the student will be dropped from the class.
If you know that your child will miss more than 8 hours, your child should email their counselor to get dropped from the class and discuss how you will make up the class.
If you need to be dropped from the class during the summer, contact Mrs. Jackson at jjackson@fjuhsd.org .

SUMMER SCHOOL 2026 FOR INCOMING FRESHMEN
Summer Bridge / Health course
Most incoming freshmen take health during the summer. Health is a graduation requirement and it is only offered during the summer. It is a two week online asynchronous course through APEX. At Sonora we have combined the health class with a Summer Bridge Program to help students become familiar with the campus, athletics, programs and make new friends.
Due to low enrollment for the 2nd session of Summer Bridge, we will only be offering one session this summer, Monday and Tuesday June 8-9 from 7:45 am to 1:00 pm each day.
On June 8 students will complete their health orientation and CPR compression demonstration. They will also be given some time each day to work on the health curriculum and get help if needed.
They will complete the rest of the online course at home at their pace but they need to finish the units by Wednesday, June 17th so they are ready to take their final at home on Thursday, June 18th.
Students are not required to attend in person from June 10 to June 18 unless they want a quiet place to work or need help. Students should report to room 626 to work on the health class and/or get help from the health teacher.
