IMPORTANT DATES: Girls Tennis Tryouts July 6th, 2009 at 10 a.m. Be at the Sonora tennis courts with a racket, shoes and shorts. Coach: David Quirarte (562) 266-2123 OPEN ENROLLMENT AND TRANSFERS Open Enrollment Open enrollment is an option to change high schools for students who live in the attendance area of Fullerton Joint Union High School District schools (i.e. Buena Park, Fullerton Union, La Habra, Sonora, Sunny Hills, or Troy High Schools). Dates: Monday, January 5 – Friday, January 23 Process: Form must be filled out and turned in to the student’s home school (the attendance area of residence) by 3pm Friday, January 23, 2009. To attend the new school next fall, the student must be enrolled at the Open Enrollment school by Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Please Note: Open Enrollment does not mean open access to Sonora High School programs. Acceptance to a specific program is not guaranteed by the Open Enrollment process. Please check with the desired program for the specific requirements. For example, students interested in the International Baccalaureate program (IB) must qualify with placement tests. IB testing must be done at Sonora High School to qualify, results from IB placement tests taken at another high school are not considered. Intra District Transfers Once the January 23rd deadline has passed, student who wish to transfer to Sonora from another school in the Fullerton Joint Union High District must apply for a permit and be accepted to a program at Sonora that is not offered at the student’s home school. Inter District Transfers To attend Sonora High School from outside the Fullerton Joint Union High School District, student must first get accepted to a program Sonora High School offers that is not offered at the student’s home school district. Please check with the specific program for acceptance requirements. - Sonora High School Programs include:
- Agriculture & Mechanics
- Army JROTC
- Culinary Arts Academy
- International Baccalaureate
- Mandarin Language Program
- Medical Careers Academy
Once accepted to the program, the student must get released from the home school before the student can be enrolled at Sonora High School. Students accepted to a program are committed to the program for 4 years. Students who choose to discontinue their selected program who are attending Sonora will return to their district of residence.
